Here are some questions you may have for us

What training or experience do your Child Care Staff have?

Each member of our staff has either a provincial level of child development certification or a minimum of 6 months work-experience with children/youth. We ensure that each newly hired member of our team is fully trained on the Discovery Place set of standards for child care employees. All of our directors have a minimum certification level 3 as Child Development Supervisors. We are so proud to have our excellent team at Discovery!

What is the youngest/oldest age of student you take at your centre?

For the preschool groups, our minimum accepted age is three years. For out-of-school care groups we accept children from kindergarten to grade 6. All children must be toilet-trained to be a part of our program.

Do you provide snacks?

We provide a morning snack and an afternoon snack in each day at our centres. Keep in mind that these are not meals, but nutritious snacks to boost the energy of the students in the middle of their day. We ensure that students with dietary restrictions can participate in each snack (we're big on inclusivity!).

Please keep in mind that snacks are only provided to our Out-of-School care students (not for Preschool students)

Summer Camp snack is optional, with a $25.00 fee per month for July and August.

Do you include children with disabilities?

We welcome any child into our program, and craft our planning to be inclusive toward each participant. Some of the children in our program have an aid to support them, which we welcome in our programs as well.

Do you include children who do not speak English as their first language?

Not to worry! We incorporate a lot of visual cues into our transitions to assist children who are new to learning English. Our patient and supportive staff ensure that each child is on the same page.

Do you have a waitlist?

Most of our centres have availability for new students, but many of our programs are nearing full capacity. The best course of action is to inquire directly with the Director of the centre nearest you. Select the centre nearest you under the "Our Centres" tab at the top of the home page to find contact information for your centre.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open from 7:00 AM each morning to 5:45 PM each afternoon on Monday through Friday. We are closed on public holidays and winter/spring breaks. Preschools are closed on statutory holidays and PD Days. For exact information regarding schedules please inquire with the Director of the centre nearest to you.

What are your fees?

Please contact centre directors for fee schedules.

Do you offer summer care?

We do offer summer care, though only to our kinder and out-of-school care students. For more information on our summer care program, please visit our Summer Camps page!
